Tsunami made the cellphones useless!

The tsunami and other such disasters show that cellphones are rendered useless ...! Read the following email from Japan in the aftermath of the catastrophe:

Bill,
I think it is important to mention how useless these little cell phone transceivers are in a real emergency. As I understand it very few cell areas could accept such a large volume of phone calls and many servers were deliberately blocking to keep the volume down. I think that some people could use text mode but in a large place like Tokyo communication can not rely on these devices..
