The best thing to happen to this city (after the Oberoi hotel chain was kicked out unceremoniously in the eighties) is the coming of great places to chill such as the Blue Blazer and the Pewter Ro...om. The Blue Blazer is really a den for music lovers, with performances by some of the greatest music talents that you can find.
Last night was a rare treat, with the performer being Shafqat Amanat Ali. A small town humble resident like me has rarely had the occasion to enjoy the performance of a high calibre singer like Shafqat at close quarters. All I can say is that he and his small group of musicians tested the limits of ecstasy by lifting us very high....
The thing that really surprised me was how the youngster crowd could swing on good music, and was familiar with each and every number of the performer! The young crowd has a much better appreciation of music than most of us fuddy duddies.
Shafqat told us that the house he grew up in was called “Patiala!” He came across as a very likeable man.... This song shows how the meeting up of two great talents like Shankar Mahadevan and Shafqat can produce magic.
Thanks a lot, Annu Mann Bains.
